Phrasal verb is a combination of verb and preposition which when combined will have different meanings, this phrasal verb is often used in everyday conversation, and very often we encounter in Hollywood films and also western music, This phrasal verb is often confusing because the meaning is difficult to guess, the solution to overcome it is to memorize the words.
And in our article this time, we will provide some examples of phrasal verb that are often used and often heard.

1.        GIVE  UP

ð  Stop doing something, or stop trying to achieve something.

Example              : After 2 hours I gave up to explain it to her

Synonyms          :  Stop

2.      LOOK FOR

ð  Try to find someone or something

Example              : what are you looking for ?

Synonyms          :  Seek

3.      LOOK DOWN

ð  To think of or treat somebody as inferior, not worthy of respect.

Example              : everybody looked him down when he failed the test

Synonyms          : Disrespect

4.      SHOW OFF

ð  To display one’s ability, possession, beauty, or status, so as to attract attention and impress others.

Example              : They are very wealthy, and they show it off with expensive cars

5.      TURN ON

ð  To make something start working or start flowing, usually electricity, water, gas ,etc.

Example              : It’s so hot here, please turn the fan on

6.      TURN OFF

ð  To  make something stop working or stop flowing, usually electricity, water, gas, etc

Example              : She turned off the lamp before leaving the room

Synonims           : Shut, Stop

7.       PASS OUT

ð  To become unconscious, usually for a short time.

Example              : When she got the terrible news about her husband, she passed out

Synonyms          : Faint, Swoon

8.      GIVE AWAY

ð  When you provide somebody with something you no longer need, for free.

Example              : My friend give away a tickets for me to watch cinema

Synonyms          : Provide, Donate,

9.      PASS AWAY

ð  To die, used when we want to be delicate and very polite.

Example              : My grandfather has passed away when  I was child

10.   TURN UP

ð  To increase the amount of something, usually sound or heat.

Example              : Would you please turn up the music a bit ?

Synonyms          : Increase, Raise

11.     TURN DOWN

ð  To decrease the amount of something, usually sound or heat.

Example              : Would you please turn down the music a bit ?

Synonyms          : Reduce, Decrease

12.   PUT ON

ð  To wear some clothes, to place clothing onto one’s body.

Example              : He puts on his coat and went outside

Synonyms          : Wear

13.   CARRY ON

ð  To continue doing something.

Example              : Let’s carry on our presentation

Synonims           : Continue





14.   COME BACK

ð  To return to a place or appear again after some time.

Example              : After a week absent, she come back to school today

Synonyms          : Return

15.   KEEP AWAY

ð  To not go near some place or person or to prevent someone from going there.

Example              : Keep away from that dog, it might have rabies
